History

Overview
The College Woodlands Neighborhood is nestled in the center of the historic Eastgate Neighborhood, only 5 minutes from the entrance to Texas A&M, and stretches from Lincoln Avenue to Dominik Drive and Walton Drive to Munson Avenue. Platted in the 1940s, it is among the oldest of College Station’s neighborhoods, and is characterized by large wooded lots, quiet streets, a park, a nature preserve, a variety of home styles, and longtime homeowners who care deeply about neighborhood preservation. Most people in the city know this area collectively as "College Hills".

Creation and Purpose of the Association
The Association was chartered with the city of College Station in September 1998 as a way to bring together neighbors in a variety of subdivisions who were long term residents of this historic area so that they could work together on issues impacting the neighborhood. The association is not a homeowner's association and encompasses nine different subdivisions, each with their own deed restrictions and some with separate homeowner's associations.

Sample Association Projects
College Woodlands projects have included traffic calming for Munson Ave., Parkway Park enhancements, mosquito abatement programs, protection of properties against inappropriate development, arranging speakers, and conducting various social activities such as holiday contests, picnics, and yard sales. Ideas for future projects are welcome.
Historic Street Names
The neighborhood streets were named in honor of many iconic figures from College Station's past. The Association is gathering information about these people. Please let us know if you want to help with this project. Click here to see the collection.
