Fourth of July Brunch
For many years, the neighborhood has gathered on the 4th of July in one of the neighborhood parks to enjoy a pot luck.
July 4, 2026
Join us for a neighborhood and Eastgate celebration of our nation's 250th birthday! This is a potluck, so bring something to share. The location will be provided later but it will be at one of the neighborhood parks. The Children's Parade will start about 9 a.m. with the potluck to follow and then games. Keep watching for neighborhood signs or this website for updates.
History
In 2021, the morning brunch was held on Saturday July 3 under Mabel Clare Thomas Park's pavilion because of potential rain. The annual cherry seed spitting contest was again won by Mr. Justin Kling, who beat his own record for a whopping 31 feet! Below he is proclaimed champion in 2021 by Joel Cantrell, Association president. A water balloon toss ended with teammates Donny Banks and Justin Kling as the winners.
In 2022, we moved to Parkway Park and again had a wonderful time sharing baked goods, fruit and coffee, good conversation, and, of course, the annual cherry seed spitting contest!
2024 and 2025 found us in Parkway Park with shade and a breeze to go with iced coffee and brunch treats. We were all surprised at how cool and comfortable it was under the trees. Great conversation and seed spitting! In 2025, the Cherry Pit Spitting Contest winner was David Hart, with a 30 ft. effort!
