Trees for College Woodlands
Partnership with Aggie Replant
The Neighborhood Association is partnering with Aggie Replant, a Texas A&M student association to be their first time working with a neighborhood to plant trees. Below is a powerpoint presented to the association members at the May 23, 2023 annual meeting about how each of us can participate in their replanting efforts. Essentially, they will come to your home, assess whether it will work as a site, and then bring and plant for you a native Texas tree. The tree and their work is free if your site is chosen as one of the ones they will work with.
How to Participate: Each family has to sign up individually on the Aggie Replant website AND mention that you are in College Woodlands Neighborhood Association! We have to have a cluster of tree plantings for this to work for all of us, so don't forget to add College Woodlands Neighborhood Association as your neighborhood. Their form requires a minimum of 10 trees to be filled in. But they are considering our neighborhood as one "site", so you fill in 10 on the form and then say how many you actually want in the comment box.
What do they do: Aggie Replant will come to your home, assess the site, discuss what you need and decide if they will approve it as a site; if you are chosen, they will bring a 5-gallon Native Texas tree to your site during the replant days in the fall (coordinated with you), dig the hole, plant the free tree, and then explain care instructions that you can follow.
What you do: Apply online, tell them you are part of College Woodlands Neighborhood Association, talk to the if they call to follow up, and after it is planted, take care of the tree and watch it grow!
What does it cost? Nothing. Aggie Replant does this free of charge, tree and labor. However, if you want to donate to their group, they would be happy to accept any donation.
